Feature Requests

We are always looking for new ways to improve DroidEdit. Use this tool to choose what should be implemented next. Please keep each idea separated.

I suggest you ...

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

If a similar idea already exists, you can support and comment on it.

If it doesn't exist, you can post your idea so others can support it.

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

  2. typescript

Please add support for Typescript files in droidedit. It lacks the syntax and I cannot open files with it directly since android thinks that .ts files are audio files.

  5. Make it possible to save SSH key password

Add a checkbox to make it possible to save the SSH key password to avoid retyping it on every SFTP connection.

  6. Delete file via FTP connection

Everytime I go take\open an file via FTP I wish to delete some of them cause bad naming or versions...
Do not know if deleting is easy as wiring but if it is so an long press on some could "popup" an option to delete?

So I do not need to open another app for that like "GostCommand"...

  7. Allow a file to be renamed after saving

It would be helpful if I could rename the currently open file, or close the file and rename it. Right now I have to Save As with a new name, and then delete the old version using a different app that pulls the latest source from Github down.

  8. change the behaviour of Recent when saving a file

In the "Choose File System" menu that appears when opening or saving a file, the "Recent" option displays a list of recently-opened files. This is fairly useful when opening a file, but when saving a file it's only useful on the very rare occasion of wanting to overwrite an existing file that has been opened recently.

A more useful behaviour might be to offer a list of folders that have been interacted with recently (e.g. take the list of files that have been opened recently, and list the folders those files are in), and selecting one opens the usual file…

  11. AutoIt3

AutoIt is a freeware automation language for Microsoft Windows. In its earliest release, the software was primarily intended to create automation scripts (sometimes called macros) for Microsoft Windows programs but has since grown to include enhancements in both programming language design and overall functionality.

  12. Feedback

Looks like to be good thing, although I have to add some special syntax encoding chemes. Oddly there is no source and ¨howto¨ at all for it! Links to the RSyntax project are DEAD and should be updated in the help pages. I found the RSyntax project on GitHub but this is rather about programming the parser and not to feed with additional syntax definitions into this editor. Seems hat I have to go on searching... :-(
Bzw.: Feedback or `user opinion` links go all to "feature request"???

  18. Images and Markdown Integration

I'm trying to use droidedit as an evernote replacement. An amazing feature would be to allow a user to take a photo that would be saved to the location of the current text file, with an auto-generated markdown (or syntax appropriate) reference to the image in the text. Down the line you could add 'drawer' that would show images associated with the file.

  19. Allow git commit/push/pull with no open file

It seems one can only commit/push/pull when there is a file from that repo open already. I'd like to be able to do these things easily from a menu without having any particular file open.
